With Orlando Pirates hot on their tails, albeit at a snail's pace, a Mamelodi Sundowns star has explained why he believes it is too early to celebrate an eighth consecutive league title.
Sundowns took a step closer to the 2024/25 Betway Premiership championship with a dominant 3-0 win over Chippa United on Wednesday at Loftus Versfeld Stadium.

The win widens the gap to 12 points ahead of second-placed Pirates, with the latter having two matches in hand.
It means the defending champions need to collect four points from their remaining three fixtures to secure the title, and goalkeeper Denis Onyango is refusing to celebrate until this is achieved.
"We still have three more games to go. We are taking it one game at a time. We can't say the league is gone until we lift it," Onyango told the club's media.
"We must play until the last game of the season, which is Magesi at home. So, for us, every game is final.

"The last three games in the league and two cup finals, and we can't get into the mentality of saying the league is already gone. No, we still have the league to fight for, more points to fight for, and more records to break.
"The commitment is very good from the guys."
