Riveiro: What Pirates have to fix against Chiefs

Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro has revealed that one factor his side will have to fix when they take on Kaizer Chiefs, a side they beat just days ago, in the final of the Nedbank Cup.

Three Nedbank Cup titles in a row, as well as a swansong for outgoing Riveiro, will be on the agenda as Pirates tackle their fierce rivals Amakhosi at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday.

The two juggernauts will have both gotten a feel of each other, have gone head-to-head only seven days prior - a league encounter where Bucs walked away 2-1 winners after battling from a goal down.

Despite the victory, the Spain-born tactiican was unhappy with how his troops started the match and marked that as a factor that would have to be rectified in Durban.

"I wish I could know when and where [the game will be won], but it's true that we need to have a better beginning of the game this time," Riveiro told journalists at Pirates' media open day at Durban North College on Thursday.

"The way we started at FNB one month ago was too much of an advantage for Chiefs at that time.

"So, this time we need to make sure that we are in a better space at the kick-off, that we are, especially, doing things with more determination so we can make the game go into the space where we want to go in the first half.

"And that is probably the thing we need to do better.

"But as I said, usually there are 90 minutes, usually you play six, seven different games [within a match] and usually you have to be better than the opponent," noted the 49-year-old.

The monumental clash is scheduled for 15:30.
