Appollis’ transfer fee to Pirates!

Oswin Appollis’ transfer from Polokwane City to Orlando Pirates came with a lower transfer fee than what was previously reported as his price tag.

Appollis is now in Spain for pre-season with Pirates after finally getting the move he has been pushing for since last year.

The Bafana Bafana winger started pre-season with Polokwane but had already made known his intentions to leave during the current transfer window.

Aware that his contract was heading into its last 12 months, Polokwane then agreed to sell him to Pirates.

Though the 23-year-old’s valuation has been placed at R20 million over the past year, it has been established that he move to Pirates for 60% of that amount.

This places the transfer fee in the region of R12 million.

Kaizer Chiefs had an opportunity to sign Appollis for what would have come down to R1,5 million when he left Pretoria Callies.

Appollis played for Callies in the Motsepe Foundation Championship after his struggles at SuperSport United.

However, they chose not to sign him back then only to then have all their offers which up to R10 million turned down when they now wanted him last year.

There were also attempts to move Appollis to Algerian giants MC Alger, but it was all unsuccessful despite reports indicating that there was a R15 million offer.

Appollis has been a Bafana regular since last year.
