Liverpool set up Carabao Cup final date with Chelsea

Liverpool advanced to the Carabao Cup final with a 3-2 aggregate victory over Fulham in the semi-final.

Reds manager Jurgen Klopp recalled Jarrell Quansah, Caoimhin Kelleher, Cody Gakpo and Ryan Gravenberch after the big win over Bournemouth on Sunday.

It took the Reds just ten minutes to find the breakthrough as Quansah's long-ball found Luis Diaz who beat his marker before firing past Bernd Leno at the near post.

Liverpool and Diaz thought they had bagged a second goal in the 27th minute when the Colombian fired home from the rebound, however the goal was ruled out for an offside on Darwin Nunez.

At the other end of the pitch, Marco Silva's charges had to wait unti the final ten minutes of the half to trouble Kelleher, who pulled off a decent save to keep out Raul Jimenez's strike.

Andreas Pereira came close to pulling Fulham level on the night after the break, after latching onto Adarabioyo's knock down in the box and unleashing a strike that hit the post.

Silva's men got their reward in the 77th minute when Issa Diop made it 1-1 on the night and 3-2 on aggregate by turning home a cross from Harry Wilson.

Wilson went close to putting Fulham ahead on the night a few minutes later but his powerful strike was forced away by Kelleher, before Liverpool were able to clear.

That proved to be the final chance of the half as the Reds booked their spot in the final where they will face Chelsea.
