OFFICIAL: Mntambo, Cardoso future decided at Sekhukhune

Sekhukhune United have put an end to speculation over the future of several senior players, including Linda Mntambo and Daniel Cardoso, among others.

Babina Noko announced that Mntambo, Cardoso, as well as Vusimuzi Ncube and Tresor Tshibwabwa have signed contract extensions on their respective deals that are set to expire on June 30.

Also on the list is Chubuike Ohizu.

Despite a coaching change midway through the season, the club still managed a top-four finish in the Betway Premiership, just missing out on a return to continental football.

Ahead of the new season, several reports had emerged that some of the side's out-of-contract players would be heading for an exit, but the Bedfordview-based outfit has silenced those suggestions with the confirmation of the new deals.

Importantly, Mntambo and Cardoso are the club's captain and vice-captain, respectively, and will be staying on for at least one more season.

However, aged 35 and 36, managing the duo's minutes will be key for head coach Eric Tinkler.

Sekhukhune have TS Galaxy as opponents in the season-opening cup competition, the MTN8, which is expected to kick off in August.
