Wydad Athletic Club have reportedly made a final decision on the future of head coach Mohamed Amine Benhachem, who took over the reins following the departure of Rulani Mokwena.
The Moroccan tactician stepped in as interim coach when South African young gaffer, Mokwena was granted special leave in April, just three games before the end of the domestic season.

Benhachem made an immediate impact by winning all three matches, helping Wydad secure qualification for the CAF Confederation Cup.
His success during that brief stint earned him the permanent role after Mokwena's subsequent dismissal in May, barely a month before the start of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
Mokwena, the former Mamelodi Sundowns mentor, who was appointed with high expectations at the start of the season, was sacked following a frustrating tenure, where the club's supporters were always on his shoulders.
The decision to part ways came as a surprise to some, especially with a major tournament on the horizon, but the Wydad hierarchy felt a change was necessary to stabilize the squad heading into the global stage.
Benhachem was tasked with leading the side at the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States, where Wydad were drawn in Group G alongside European giants Manchester City, Juventus, and UAE side Al Ain.
However, the campaign ended in disappointment, with Wydad suffering three consecutive defeats, a 2-0 to City, 4-1 to Juventus, and 2-1 to Al Ain, resulting in an early exit from the competition.
Following the underwhelming performance on the global stage, speculation mounted over Benhachem’s future. Critics questioned whether the 50-year-old, who previously served as the club’s technical director, was the right man for the job at the highest level.

However, according to Pressbee, Wydad president Hicham Ait Mena and the club’s board have decided to keep faith in Benhachem for the upcoming 2025/26 season.
The Wydad management is reportedly believing in his long-term vision and remains confident that he can steer the club to domestic and continental success after signing a two-year-contract.
