Southampton 1-2 Liverpool
Liverpool booked a spot in the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup with a tense 2-1 victory over the relegation-threatened Southampton on Wednesday.
Youthful duo Trey Nyoni and Tyler Morton were handed starts by coach Arne Slot, while Harvey Elliott, Wataru Endo and goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher were also recalled.
Darwin Nunez got the opener during the midway point after breaking through the centre of the defence to race clear and executed with ease.
Southampton weren't able to draw a quick response and were behind again when Elliott made space in the six-yard box and fired in the bottom-corner.
However, the Saints pulled one back soon after halftime when Cameron Archer got in on the near side of the box and curled in the far side.
Arsenal 3-2 Crystal Palace
Gabriel Jesus bagged a hat-trick to steer Arsenal to a 3-2 victory over Crystal Palace and a spot in the semi-finals.
Gabriel Jesus, Leandro Trossard and Raheem Sterling lined-up in a front three presented by the Gunners who had Jorginho installed as captain for this clash.
With a spot in the semi-final firmly on the line, Mikel Arteta's men were pegged back four minutes in Jean-Philippe Mateta ran onto a long ball over the defence and slammed in the bottom-corner.
Jesus came to the home side's rescue nine minutes in the second half and beat Dean Henderson with a composed chip effort to level it up.
The Gunners grabbed control in the closer stages as Jesus got in on the far side of the defensive-area to lash in the bottom-corner from an acute angle.
With the minutes ticking away, Jesus popped up once more and completed his hat-trick through an unstoppable finish after charging down at Henderson.
Palace, who led at the break, got a lifeline eight minutes from time when Eddie Nketiah headed in the near post, but the Gunners held out for the win.
Newcastle United 3-1 Brentford
Newcastle United joined Arsenal and Liverpool in the semi-finals after recording a commanding 3-1 victory over Brentford.
Italian Sandro Tonali, who returned to the line-up over the weekend against Leicester City, continued to show his importance when he bagged the opener.
The Bees took a bit of time to get going amidst the fast start by the Magpies, and trailed again just before the break when Tonali finished off Anthony Gordons' delivery to secure a first half brace.
Eddie Howe's men were in complete control at this stage and showed the visitors no mercy with Fabian Schar latching onto a supply from Bruno Guimaraes to make it three on the night.
Brentford grabbed a consolation goal a minute into added on time as Yoanne Wissa picked up a pass from Bryan Mbeumo and stabbed beyond Martin Dubravka.
