Bafana keeper in demand

Out-of-contract Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Mondli Mpoto is in high demand in the transfer market, with favourites for his signature having now been revealed.

Mpoto, formerly with Royal AM and SuperSport United, has attracted interest from teams both in the Motsepe Foundation Championship and the topflight.

Mpoto's contract with Royal AM expired on Monday, 30 June.

The shot-stopper is highly regarded by national team selectors and is frequently included in the Bafana squad for the COSAFA Cup.

The 26-year-old has represented South Africa at U17, U20, and U23 levels, and was also part of the Vela Khumalo-coached Bafana side that recently participated in the COSAFA Cup in Bloemfontein.

Mpoto is open to discussions and ready to sign with any team that meets his requirements.

While University of Pretoria are believed to be leading the race for his signature, newly promoted Betway Premiership outfit Durban City, along with the pair of Baroka FC and Kruger United, have also expressed interest.
