'I would do everything in my power...'

With Mamelodi Sundowns having the option to sell Thembinkosi Lorch to other clubs besides Wydad Casablanca after an impressive Club World Cup showing, an agent has offered advice after his loan deal expired.

Lorch has revived his career after a loan move to Wydad in February from Sundowns, where he initially reunited with former coach Rulani Mokwena.

He has not let the departure of Mokwena from The Red Castle, towards the end of last season, affect him, after taking the rare opportunity of playing at the FIFA Club World Cup to show the world what he is capable of.

The Free State-bred attacker caught the eye with his performances against European powerhouses Manchester City and Juventus in Group G contests, though the North African giants went on to lose all their matches.

Reports coming out of Morocco are that Wyad are desperate to buy Lorch outright from the Tshwane giants having joined on a six-month loan deal, with an option to purchase.

According to AfricaFoot.com, Sundowns have quoted the club €1 million (approximately R20 million) to keep Lorch, 50 percent above the initial asking price, following the former PSL Footballer of the Season's display at the global tournament in the United States.

Although not his representative, prominent agent Mike Makaab says if it were up to him, he would do everything for Lorch to stay at Wydad.

"I believe Lorch has done incredibly well at Wydad. If I were representing him, I would do everything in my power to make sure that he continues there," Makaab said on Gagasi FM.

"Because if he continues, achieving what he has done at Wydad, he's destined for a nice big move. He has settled so well at Wydad."

Following Lorch's performances at the Club World Cup, there are calls from South African fans for the-soon-tobe 32-year-old to be recalled to Bafana Bafana, with the Africa Cup of Nations set to be hosted in Morocco from December 2025 to January next year.

Another South African, Cassius Mailula, has announced he will not be staying at Wydad, after he was also on loan from Toronto FC.
