Chiefs’ goal diggers return this season

Congolese winger Glody Makabi Lilepo has pushed himself to the top of the scoring charts at Kaizer Chiefs this season despite only arriving in January.

Lilepo came in from French Third Division club Valenciennes at the beginning of the year and has made good of his time at Chiefs.

Playing in a team struggling to win games, he has scored six in 18 appearances for Chiefs, giving him a return of a goal with every three matches he plays.

A goal every three games is the best at the Soweto giants from all those tasked with scoring goals.

The 27-year-old has played 1,439 minutes, giving him an average of 240 minutes per goal playing from the wing.

Wandile Duba has scored six in 25 appearances as he keeps establishing himself as a genuine rising talent.

His rate is 255 minutes per goal.

For the rest of the attackers, Ranga Chivaviro has five goals in 22 appearances, which gives him a return of a goal in every 4,4 games.

On the minutes front, he needs 197 minutes per goal playing as a number nine.

Tashreeq Morris’s only claim to a goal at the Naturena-based side was against AmaZulu FC, which television replays suggest the last touch might not have even come from him.

In the case that goal is his, it means one goal in nine appearances since making the surprise switch from SuperSport United.

Having played 435 minutes, these are definitely numbers that are not appealing for a number nine at a new club.

With Ashley Du Preez, he is evidently still fighting his finishing demons at Chiefs.

Five goals in 25 appearances this season is nothing to be proud of as it means he scores once with every five games he plays.

With the minutes he has played, the speedster scores once every 231 minutes.

Mduduzi Shabalala has been the other notable scorer this season with four goals to his name in 33 games playing from midfield.
