BREAKING: Chiefs announce big new signing in key position

Following a drawn-out pursuit, Kaizer Chiefs have strengthened their attacking line with the signing of a former Mamelodi Sundowns striker as efforts to bolster the frontline continue.

Chiefs confirmed on Tuesday morning that Nigerian striker Etiosa Ighodaro has joined.

The move follows weeks of talks between the Soweto giants and the player's parent club Mamelodi Sundowns over bringing him on board.

The cat has been out of the bag for some time, as a leaked unveiling video of Ighodaro, seemingly in Amakhosi gear, has been making the rounds on social media for several weeks.

Nevertheless, the fanbase will be relieved to hear the club has finally captured their target, as will head coach Nasreddine Nabi, who has so far relied on 21-year-old Wandile Duba for goals.

Tashreeq Morris is yet to find the back of the net since joining midway through last season, while Naledi Hlongwane has also been recently promoted to the first team to help find solutions.

Ighodaro was at AmaZulu FC on loan last season, where he contributed six goals in 27 matches.

This was his fourth loan spell from The Brazilians, having previously been at University of Pretoria, Chippa United, and SuperSport United.

Prior to that, he was with the Tshwane giants' feeder team M Tigers in the ABC Motsepe League following his arrival from Nigeria.
