The match ended 2-2, with Ngezana playing no part despite having travelled with the squad from Romania.
According to Herald Scotland, Ngezana and two of his teammates were detained at Aberdeen Airport for four hours after being denied work visas.
The South African star and his colleagues were eventually allowed to go to the team hotel, where they were kept under surveillance by authorities.
As a result, the trio were not permitted to train with the rest of the squad before the match, nor to take part in the game against Aberdeen.
A spokesperson for the British Embassy in Bucharest told Digi Sport: "The embassy has no role in the processing and granting of visas, which is solely in the hands of the Home Office.
"We cannot comment on what has happened in this particular case. All those wishing to enter the UK must comply with the Home Office's advice."
