Medal wait for Sundowns teenager

Mamelodi Sundowns have a medal consideration to make for their teenage prodigy Kutlwano Letlhaku after missing out on Sunday night.

Letlhaku has spent most of the last month away in Egypt for the Under-20 AFCON, which they also lifted last night after overcoming Morocco in the final.

While he was celebrating with a gold medal on his neck, Letlhaku will have taken interest in what was happening back home.

Sundowns went up the podium at Loftus to receive the new Betway Premiership trophy and with it came the usual medals.

The PSL gives out 35 medals and distribution of those medals is then left to the winning squad.

There is an option of the club making further medals for the rest of their squad at their own cost.

Last night, the goalkeeping trio of Ronwen Williams, Denis Onyango, and Jody February all got medals as they all got minutes in the league.

Grant Kekana, Mothobi Mvala, Thapelo Morena, Khuliso Mudau, Malibongwe Khoza, Mosa Lebusa, and Lucas Suarez were amongst the defenders, while some of the midfield crew had Marcelo Allende, Teboho Mokoena, and captain Themba Zwane.

The attackers receiving medals had Lucas Ribeiro Costa, Iqraam Rayners, Peter Shalulile, and Arthur Sales, amongst others.

Asekho Tiwani also got his medal after returning home early from Egypt due to injury.

Siyabonga Mabena also notably received his medal, though his contribution this season was less than that of Letlhaku.

Letlhaku scored twice in six league games and has so far totalled 16 appearances in all competitions.

The 19-year-old arrives back in the country on Tuesday.
