Chiefs winger’s step up: He will score not less than 15-17 goals this season

It hasn’t happened often, but Glody Makabi Lilepo is doing it as he keeps moving on the influence path at Kaizer Chiefs.

Lilepo has stepped to the front of the queue in establishing himself as a prominent name in the selection of regulars at Chiefs since his signing at the beginning of the year.

The Congolese winger came in from French third-tier league club Valenciennes in January and has made good of his time at Chiefs so far.

From the day he made his debut he made his debut against Orlando Pirates on February 1, Lilepo has been a permanent feature.

This has meant he hasn’t missed a single game since he made his debut for Chiefs in February playing all 21 matches for the club.

The 28-year-old has played as a substitute only twice through that time.

Into the new season, it was 90 minutes against Stellenbosch when he scored from the spot then completed full game against Polokwane City last week.

His return has totalled seven goals (plus one assist) with his integration at the club made easy by the presence of French speaking technical team which includes Nasreddoine Nabi and his two assistants Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze.

Alain Kibangula, who is of Congolese origin and a scout involved in amateur football in Johannesburg, is expecting goals to rain from Lilepo

"This year, he will score not less than 15-17 goals," Kibangula tells KickOff.com.

"He is a goal scorer and cannot go three games without scoring or assisting.

"You better watch out him for him because he will do a lot for the team this season.

"I discovered him in Congo and was the one who took him to Eswatini at Mbabane Swallows when he was a small boy.

"It was his first time playing outside Congo and the beginning of a career that has now led him to Chiefs," says Kibangula.
