Coaches 'angry' with Chiefs players

Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Khalil Ben Youssef has revealed why the coaches were 'a little angry' with the players following their win over Richards Bay FC.

The Amakhosi continued their perfect start to the campaign and recorded a third straight victory with the winner from second half substitute Gaston Sirino.

Youssef, who once again sat on the bench in the absence of Nasreddine Nabi, says they needed to kill the game off a lot sooner,

“It was expected before the game even yesterday at the press conference we discussed about that, we said that it would be a tough game for us. But in halftime, we discussed about something we have to change,” Youssef told SuperSport TV.

“We needed to play more fast - the rotation was very strong in the first half; we took the decision to take risk to remove Ox (Sibongiseni Mthethwa) to play with Thabo Cele with ‘Mshini ‘and Sirino in the middle and we were right I think – Sirino scored the goal.

“Then, I think in the second half we tried to manage but we were a little bit angry about the players in this kind of game you need to score the second goal to kill the game, we started to joke with the fans, I’m so happy for the fans, they enjoyed today.

“Now finish this game, now start from tomorrow think about the next game – Sundowns game and I hope all the fans they enjoyed today about this game,” he added.

In addition, the Amakhosi refuse to shed the light on individuals but rather adopted a holistic team approach as pivotal to the maximum points against Richards Bay.

At the same time, keeping another clean-sheet and be amongst a few teams yet to conceded this early on in the campaign pleased the in-form Soweto giants.

“I think it’s all the team – not only about Shabalala, Sirino and (Wandile) Duba all the team was great in situation. We started left-side then make overload on the right-side playing cutback Shabalala and Sirino you saw he was free. I think it’s an amazing goal, it’s an amazing goal,” Youssef said.

“I think that’s the most important thing for us, we so happy about our defence. We discussed about even in the cup about our defence, we need to be more strong; we can’t accept that one of the biggest teams in South Africa concedes more goals."
