Arrows comment on Mutizwa situation

With speculation surrounding Knox Mutizwa suggesting he and Golden Arrows are no longer an item, and Manqoba Mngqithi refusing to air 'dirty laundry' in public, the club has now had its say.

Mutizwa appears to be leaving Abafana Bes'thende, and according to rumours, has several interested parties.

He last played for the side in April.

When asked about the issue regarding one of the top finishers in the PSL, Arrows media officer Comfort Thusi could neither confirm nor deny that the 31-year-old star is on his way out.

Highly regarded by Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana legend Siyabonga Nomvethe, Mutiza scored only three goals from 14 matches this season.

"As a club, we haven't discussed anything about Knox Mutizwa at this stage," Thusi says, addressing a KickOff.com enquiry.

"Yes, he is still part of the team. Until we release a statement regarding Knox Mutizwa, he remains our player."

Asked whether that meant the Bulawayo-born player was still training under the watchful eye of Mngqithi, Thusi replied, “Those are internal affairs.

"Whether the player is training or not is an internal matter. Hence, we have not released any statement."

Arrows have narrowly avoided being sucked into a play-offs spot and sit in 12th spot on the table with 30 points.

Their last match of the season is scheduled for Wednesday against SuperSport United. This game will only consist of a second half, as the original fixture was abandoned in February due to an electricity failure.
