Rule of law for Chiefs new signing

Nigerian striker Etiosa Ighodaro has been given the rule book to what will turn his stay at Kaizer Chiefs into success after the completion of his move.

Ighodaro has joined Chiefs on a two-year deal with an option of a further year after finally disentangling himself from Mamelodi Sundowns.

The 24-year-old has been on loan to University of Pretoria, Chippa United, SuperSport United, and AmaZulu FC in the last four years and prior to that played for M Tigers in the lower divisions while attached to the Tshwane giants.

"He must hit at least 15 goals at Chiefs," demands fellow Nigerian Prince Olomu, who played for Bloemfontein Celtic, Free State Stars, and Maritzburg United.

"I scored 13 as an attacking midfielder, so why shouldn’t he go for more goals?

"I would have said he should aim for 20, but since it is his first season, then 15 should be fine.

"We need to have a culture of pushing our strikers towards aiming to score 20 and above.

"They signed him for goals at Chiefs and that is what he must deliver," says Olomu, who had his move to the Naturena-based side suffer a stillbirth after scoring 13 goals playing as an attacking midfielder at Celtic during 2009/10.

"What everyone expects from him is to show who he is and lift Chiefs back to where they belong

"Expectations on him as a Nigerian will always be big, so he must embrace that.

"I know he is capable but needs to humble himself and focus.

"If he is able to hit the ground running, he will lift the team from where they have been to where they should be.

"Goals are a definite and it is not even a subject open to negotiation or diplomacy.

"They signed him as a striker at Chiefs and must produce those goals.

"He must just be dreaming goals and nothing else at Chiefs," says Olomu.
