Downs warned: 'Pyramids doesn't rely on defense'

Pyramids FC assistant coach Mohamed Nagy Gedo has issued a warning to Mamelodi Sundowns ahead of their decisive CAF Champions League final clash.

The first leg between the two African heavyweights ended in a 1-1 draw last Saturday in Tshwane, leaving everything to play for in the return fixture.

The highly anticipated second leg will take place on Sunday, June 1, at the 30 June Stadium in Cairo.

This match promises to be an interesting one with Pyramids aiming for their first-ever Champions League title, meanwhile, Downs are seeking a second continental crown.

While acknowledging the quality and the danger that the South African giants possess, Gedo is adamant that Miguel Cardoso's side will not have it easy in Cairo.

"Thank God, the draw in South Africa was a positive result, but the match has not been decided yet, the return leg in Cairo remains," Gedo said, per Elwatan News.

"Sundowns is a strong team that knows how to play away from home and has the ability to score on the road. Pyramids FC doesn't rely on defense, whether at home or away.

"We always strive to impose our style and have the upper hand in every match, whether against a strong or weak team.

"We requested that the crucial match against Ceramica be postponed due to the tight deadline before the second leg against Sundowns. We were hoping for the cooperation of the club association, but unfortunately, our request was rejected," he added.

"The league sent an official letter refusing to postpone the match. Therefore, we will play the Ceramica match on Wednesday, followed by the Sundowns match on Sunday. We will deal with the situation as it is and strive to achieve the best possible results in both matches."
