PSL club chasing ‘Mbappe’

After failing to secure a Top Eight position at the end of a challenging 2024/25 season, Chippa United are working around the clock to reinforce their squad and are now closing down on a highly-rated midfielder.

Chippa have already lost midfielder Sinoxolo Kwayiba, who has joined Orlando Pirates.

Striker Bienvenu Eva Nga and goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali are also on their way out of the Chilli Boys.

Eva Nga has been linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs next season, whilst Nwabali’s next destination remains unknown.

The Eastern Cape-based side is also set to announce a new coach following the departure of Thabo September.

According to sources close to the Chilli Boys, the club is preparing to swoop in on Kazema Baso after his impressive performances with FC Saint-Eloi Lupopo in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

“Chippa United are chasing ‘Mbappe’ (Baso). He is one of the top players in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. He is quick and skillful. Chippa have already made contact,” said a source.

Efforts to get hold of Chippa United and the player’s agent Patou and Kapamba proved futile at the time of compiling the story.

The club has also been linked with goalkeeper Simon Omossola from FC Saint-Eloi Lupopo. He was in goals when Cameroon beat Uganda 3-0 in a friendly match played at the Stade de Marrakech on Friday.
