Moment of gloss for Ngezana this week

With four trophies already won in the two years that he has spent in Europe, Siyabonga Ngezana has a personal feat to reach in his professional career, which started out at Kaizer Chiefs.

FCSB play the second qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League and have made the trip across Bulgaria to North Macedonia, where FF Shkëndija will be waiting for the first leg on Tuesday.

The Romanian champions will also play FCV Farul Constanta on Saturday, before they host the second leg of the Champions League qualifiers next week.

Should FCSB win that qualifier, then they will proceed to the third round, while defeat will relegate them to the Europa League third qualifying round.

Of interest for Ngezana is that his next appearance for FCSB will take him to 200 club career appearances since he made his first team debit at Chiefs in October 2017.

The 28-year-old then played 123 matches for the Naturena-based outfit, before transferring to the Romanian giants this month two years ago.

His time in Bucharest has come with regular game-time with 76 appearances to date, while he has won the league twice and lifted the Romanian Super Cup twice as well.

He has already played four out of five matches so far this season.

Since moving to FCSB, Ngezana has also broken into the Bafana Bafana squad, earning seven caps since June last year.

His transfer value is on the rise and already shot up five times from what it was when he left Amakhosi.

The Soweto giants have a 10% sell-on benefit for the towering defender, who has had clubs in France, Belgium, and the English Championship asking about him.
