DEBUT: Maart off to winning start abroad

Former Kaizer Chiefs captain Yusuf Maart made an impressive start to his SV Ried career after making his official debut in a 5-0 win in the Austria Cup.

The 30-year-old had featured for the newly-promoted side in pre-season after completing his move from Chiefs a coupl weeks now.

Maart started on the bench for his new team, but countryman Antonio van Wyk was named in the starting line-up.

Van Wyk lasted the opening 45 minutes with Ried leading 1-0 at the halftime break, before he was substituted.

Maart, meanwhile, was introduced in the 54th minute for his first official appearance for the Austrian outfit.

Ried went on to enjoy a comfortable second period by scoring four more goals and sealing their spot in the second round.

Maart and Van Wyk will now turn their attention to the team's Bundesliga opener against champions Red Bull Salzburg next Saturday.
