Durban City will finally have their crowning moment after being denied the opportunity to lift the Motsepe Foundation Championship trophy straight after their last game of the season.
The KZN-based club won the league title, and with that promotion to the elite division, after collecting 58 points from 30 games.

However, official celebrations have been put on ice since their last game of the campaign against Cape Town Spurs at Athlone Stadium on 18 May, with legal issues confronting them.
First, JDR Stars lodged a complaint with the PSL regarding the eligibility of Saziso Magawana, claiming he had been improperly registered with the side after transferring from Marumo Gallants.
Club chairman Farook Kadodia has been vocal in making his displeasure about the whole situation known, and will now be heaving a sigh of relief with the latest confirmation from the PSL.

"The Premier Soccer League (PSL), in partnership with the Motsepe Foundation, will host the official trophy handover ceremony to crown Durban City Football Club as the 2024/25 champions of the Motsepe Foundation Championship champions on Tuesday, 10 June 2025.
