Human interest: Chiefs, Pirates links investigated

With transfer speculation linking talented midfielder Rowan Human with an exit from AmaZulu FC, this website has the latest on the situation.

AmaZulu secured a major coup in July 2023 after signing Human from Maritzburg United, following the latter's relegation from the topflight.

The 24-year-old was heavily linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs in the same winter, despite the Team of Choice dropping down to the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

The former Bidvest Wits man has also impressed for Bafana Bafana in the COSAFA Cup.

After two seasons at the KwaZulu-Natal side, it has come as a surprise that Human, who featured in 26 out of 30 league games for this past season, has been linked with an exit, with his contract expiring at the end of June.

KickOff.com understands Usuthu have an option on the former Maccabi Tel Aviv player's contract and are yet to indicate whether he is in the plans of head coach Arthur Zwane going forward, though it looks increasingly likely he will be let go on a free.

Human has been part of a regular attacking midfield that also has Hendrick Ekstein, Tshepang Moremi, and Ethan Brooks under Zwane. The Bethlehem native scored three goals and had five assists in 2024/25.

It remains to be seen if Amakhosi will rekindle their interest, with the club boasting a new technical team since they initially approached Maritzburg for his services.

The two clubs were in advanced talks back then, but in a sudden turn of events, Usuthu took advantage of the Soweto giants stalling to finalise the deal.
They made a better offer to Maritzburg and were more decisive, according to Soccer Laduma.

Local media suggests Human, who was named Man of the Match in AmaZulu's 2-2 draw against the Glamour Boys in February, has been offered to both the Naturena-based side and Orlando Pirates by his handlers.
