Real Madrid's Marcelo responds to handball appeal from UEFA Champions League semi-final

Marcelo, 29, has been one of Real's standout performers in the Champions League this season en route to their fourth final in five seasons but was surrounded by controversy last night at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The Brazil international appeared to have prevented a cross from Bayern full-back Joshua Kimmich with his hand, as the scores evenly poised at 1-1 just before the break.

However, Turkish referee Cuneyt Cakir awarded the visitors a corner, much to the dismay of the Bavarian giants.

"It's a handball. It hit me on the hand and I think it's a penalty. If I say it didn't hit me I'd be lying, but football is like that." he told reporters, as quoted by ESPN.

"I don't talk about referees, but it's clear that sometimes they make decisions in your favour and other times against you, but whatever happens you have to play football."
