Following the conclusion of the 2024/25 season, the man who took over from Rulani Mokwena at Wydad Athletic Club has announced that he will be stepping down as a head coach.
Amine Benhachem, who is now a sporting director for the Red Castle, was tasked with leading the team on an interim basis following Mokwena's sacking.
The 49-year-old Moroccan coach led the team on three occasions t and managed to secure third place in the Botoal Pro League table and a spot in the CAF Confederation Cup for the upcoming season.

Wydad are currently in search of a new tactician. They continue to be heavily linked with Jose Riveiro, who is leaving Orlando Pirates, and Kaizer Chiefs mentor Nasreddine Nabi amidst rumours that his tenure with Amakhosi is in jeopardy.
Benhachem has now stated that he will return to his position as a sporting director while Wydad continue their search for a new coach.
"Thank God, we performed well in the last three matches, and the players’ fighting spirit was behind these positive results that have restored the team to its usual level," Benhachem said, as quoted by 365Scores.

"My tenure as interim coach ends today, and starting tomorrow (Friday), I will return to my duties as sports director.
"We will immediately begin preparations for the next phase, in terms of recruitment and preparations at various levels."
The Red Castle will now shift their attention to the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, where they will be representing the African continent along with Mamelodi Sundowns, Al Ahly, and Esperance de Tunis.
Manchester City, Juventus FC, and Asian team Al Ain FC will compete against the Casablanca-based powerhouse in Group G. Wydad's first game will be against City.
