Greenwood 'offered lifeline' by ex-Man Utd coach

Mason Greenwood has reportedly been offered a lifeline by a former Manchester United coach after charges against him were dropped.

Greenwood's future at Old Trafford is yet to be decided after charges of physical and sexual abuse were dropped in February.

The striker has not been involved with the first team since the charges were dropped, as the club are still doing an internal investigation.

Should the Red Devils decided to offload the 21-year-old, the Sun have reported that AS Roma manager Jose Mourinho has reached out the player in the hopes of securing a loan deal.

The Red Devils striker has been training on his own as he prepares to get back on the pitch, with reports claiming that Erik ten Hag would prefer to see the young striker get a loan move rather than a permanent exit.

The report added that Mourinho got in touch with Greenwood's father to inform that playing football will be the best way to get out of the situation.

Mourinho does have a bond with Greenwood, who was included in United's pre-season tour by the Portuguese coach as a 16-year-old in 2018.
Greenwood has racked up 35 goals in 129 appearances for the Red Devils since making his debut in the UEFA Champions League against Paris Saint-Germain.
