Former FC Barcelona captain Carles Puyol has rejected the chance of a sensational return to the LaLiga giants.
Puyol is widely regarded as one of the finest defenders of his generation and spent his entire career at the Camp Nou, amassing 682 games for the first-team over 15 seasons.
He also captained the Blaugrana for a decade and has always been tipped for a return to the club since anouncing his retirement from football in 2014.
However, the 41-year-old has now confirmed that he's rejected a chance for an iconic homecoming with the side he lifted 18 major titles with.
"In recent weeks, several news stories about my possible incorporation at FC Barcelona as a sports director have been published. As such, I feel obligated to communicate to the whole culé family that, after weighing it up a lot, I have decided not to accept the club's offer," he wrote on Twitter.
