Wydad Athletic Club, who currently have South African duo Thembinkosi Lorch and Cassius Mailula on their books, are reportedly facing issues in reducing the number of foreign players in their squad for the next domestic campaign.
According to reports, Wydad are under increasing pressure to cut down the number of foreign stars ahead of the new domestic season.

This comes amid the Moroccan giants’ signing of Dutch defender Bart Meijers, along with their reported pursuit of Senegalese duo Nampalys Mendy and Djibril Soumare.
With Meijers now officially part of the squad, Wydad’s total number of foreign players stands at nine, including Mailula, Lorch, Ghanaian Daniel Obeng, Tanzanian Souleymani Mwalimu, Michael Malsa, Brazilian duo Arthur and Pedrinho, and Burkina Faso’s Stephane Aziz Ki.
Should the club complete the signings of Mendy and Soumare, the total would rise to 11.
According to TeleSport, Wydad are now considering offloading Malsa, who only joined the club in January as a free agent during Rulani Mokwena’s tenure.
Furthermore, Wydad are reportedly contemplating the sale of Brazilian midfielder Arthur, while Pedrinho could be sent out on loan to avoid breaching foreign player limits in the Moroccan league.
Notably, the positions of Lorch and Mailula appear to be secure.
It is also worth noting that these restrictions do not apply in the context of the upcoming 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
