Manchester United 0-3 Newcastle United
Reigning champions Manchester United were eliminated from the Carabao Cup following a 3-0 defeat to Newcastle United on Wednesday evening.
After the derby defeat to Manchester City on Sunday, the Red Devils restored Mason Mount, Antony, Hannibal Mejbri and Anthony Martial against the Magpies in a repeat of last season's final.
With Anthony Gordon leading the line, the Magpies went into the lead before the half-hour mark after early substitute Miguel Almiron slotted into the far corner.
Youngster Lewis Hall added to the home side's woes with a second through a well-taken strike and guided the Magpies well in the ascendancy at the course of the interval.
The Red Devils still found the going tough against the Magpies and conceded again late in the second half when Joe Willock finished off Joelinton's delivery and ultimately ousted the title holders from the competition.
Bournemouth 1-2 Liverpool
A superb finish from Uruguayan striker Darwin Nunez guided Liverpool to a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Bournemouth and the quarter-finals too.
Caoimhin Kelleher, Joe Gomez, Jarell Quansah, Joel Matip, Kostas Tsimikas, Wataru Endo, Curtis Jones and Dominik Szoboszlai were eight changes the Reds provided from the win over Nottingham Forest.
Liverpool battled to get going following the earlier minutes of the match, but were ahead at halftime when Netherlands international Coady Gakpo finished from close-range.
The Cherries replied a little after the interval and got back on level terms through Justin Kluivert after he got on the end of Alex Scott's assist.
Nunez got the Reds over the line with a stunning finish a little later and sent the Cherries crashing from the cup tournament.
Chelsea 2-0 Blackburn Rovers
Chelsea got back to winning ways after the weekend disappointment and overcame Blackburn Rovers 2-0 to advance to the quarter-finals.
Having started on the bench in the defeat to Brentford on Saturday, Enzo Fernandez were restored before Lesley Ugochukwu and Benoit Badiashile also earned a rare start.
The latter put the Blues in front right on the half-hour mark with a smartly taken finish as Rovers were caught napping in the defensive third.
England forward Raheem Sterling wasn't prepared to be left out and added a second when he turned in Cole Palmer's assist after halftime.
West Ham United 3-1 Arsenal
Arsenal's journey in this season tournament ended in disappointing fashion following a 3-1 loss to West Ham United at the London Stadium.
Goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale was recalled by the Gunners, who rewarded Eddie Nketiah with another outing following his hat-trick on Saturday against Sheffield United.
It wasn't the start the Gunners had hoped though as their own defender Ben White turned the ball into his own net after attempting to make a clearance.
Arsenal were sliced open again early in the second half after Nayef Aguerd played in Mohammed Kudus to get the better of Ramsdale.
The Gunners continued to chase shadows and gave away a third goal through Jarrod Bowen, but captain Martin Odegaard got a lifeline at the death though the Hammers held on for the win and progressed to the quarter-finals.
