Tau gap noted at Al Ahly: 'Since his departure...'

A former Al Ahly star now suggests that the club have still not replaced Percy Tau's skill set following his departure in January.

The South African star officially left Al Ahly during the January transfer window in favour of a move to Qatar SC.

His exit from the Red Devils came as little surprise, as he had been consistently linked with a move away since the start of the season amid reported tension with then-manager Marcel Koller.

Many in Egypt have since criticised Koller for allegedly playing a role in Tau's departure, with some claiming that the Swiss coach had a habit of treating key players poorly.

With Al Ahly now looking to conclude their 2024/25 Egyptian Premier League campaign and prepare for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, former club player Hany Ramzy insists that Tau is yet to be adequately replaced.

"I hope Al Ahly signs a left-footed winger, especially given the lack of right-footed players and the lack of left-footed wingers since Percy Tau's departure," said Ramzy during a television interview, according to Cairo24.

Tau, meanwhile, will be out of contract at Qatar SC next month, according to Transfermarkt.

However, when he joined the Qatari club earlier this year, it was reported that an extension clause had been included in the deal, should the parties involved agree to extend.
