'Riveiro is the weakest candidate for Al Ahly job'

A former Al Ahly player has criticised the club's decision to reportedly appoint Jose Riveiro as their new head coach.

Various reports claim that the now former Orlando Pirates coach is set to take charge of the Egyptian giants this weekend.

Some of other coaches linked with the Al Ahly job include Carlos Queiroz, Jose Gomes and former Borussia Dortmund tactician Marco Rose.

Former Al Ahly goalkeeper Ekramy El-Shaha feels the Spanish tactician is the weakest candidate of all the coaches who have been linked with the job.

"I don’t know who Riveiro is," El-Shahat was reported as saying, according to Al-Masry Al-Youm.

"Maybe Al Ahly sees him as the future, or maybe they’re trying to replicate the Pitso Mosimane experience when he came from Sundowns."

"All the other candidates whose names were mentioned had stronger CVs than his — he was the weakest among them," the former goalkeeper said
