It is now reported that Thembinkosi Lorch’s Wydad Athletic Club have arranged two warm-up fixtures ahead of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, against two top European clubs.

Several domestic leagues involving participating teams are set to conclude their 2024/25 campaigns, with Morocco’s Botola Pro 1 having wrapped up last weekend.

As a result, Wydad find themselves with a break before their Club World Cup participation. They are one of four CAF representatives at the tournament, alongside Al Ahly, Esperance de Tunis, and Mamelodi Sundowns.

In the meantime, reports suggest Wydad have been arranging warm-up matches in preparation for the global showpiece.

According to Moroccan outlet Sport7, Wydad have organised two friendlies; one against Spanish side Sevilla and another against Portuguese giants FC Porto.

The fixture against Sevilla is expected to take place at the Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca on 27 May.

Lorch and his teammates will reportedly then travel to Europe to face Porto on 31 May.

At the Club World Cup, Wydad are in the same group as Manchester City (England), Juventus (Italy), and Al Ain (United Arab Emirates).
