Davids not talking title race yet but...

Simba SC head coach Fadlu Davids has revealed what he believes will be the key factors in the race for the Tanzanian Premier League title.

After running riot over Pamba Jiji with a 5-1 scoreline at the KMC Stadium on Thursday, the South African coach said that they are not currently focused on securing the title.

Wekundu wa Msimbazi are trailing the log leaders, Young Africans, who have played one more match, by four points with five games left.

With several matches left to wrap up the 2024/25 season, Simba will face off against Yanga on June 15, a game that could be seen as a title decider.

Following the win on Thursday, Davids declined to discuss their title prospects, as he chose to focus on their upcoming game against Kinondoni Municipal Council on Sunday.

"Pamba is a very good side, very aggressive and very physical, so it was very important for us to rotate positions, it was good fight from Kapombe, playing from the inside number 10, we had Mpanzu playing wide, because we needed to create space, so it was good execution from the players," Davids said per Pan-Africa Football.

"We need everybody ready to come and perform, that is what is needed at this stage of the season, and in two days’ time, we need recovery and put a competitive side to be able to get the three points, so three down and one more to go.

"We are taking it game by game, it is going to be game by game, we can’t be talking about the title when we still have a game in hand, and we still have more matches to play," the former Orlando Pirates boss added.

"We just have to take it game by game, we are not looking at the table right now, it is just about getting the three points, and we put the best line-up with matches coming up thick and fast."
