Ahly 'reach agreement' with Portuguese coach amid Riveiro links

Al Ahly are said to have reached an agreement with a Portuguese coach amid Orlando Pirates mentor Jose Riveiro's links with the club.

The Egyptian Premier League powerhouse have recently parted ways with Marcel Koller, despite his achievements, which include winning multiple major titles, including two CAF Champions League trophies.

After the departure of the Swiss coach, the 12-time Champions League victors have been frequently associated with several managers to fill the void left by Koller.

The Pirates' head coach Riveiro, who is expected to leave the Soweto giants at the end of the season, has been amongst those mentioned as potential successors to Koller at Ahly.

Additionally, it has been reported that the Red Devils have already dismissed the prospect of reappointing former coach Pitso Mosimane.

However, as per a report from the Saudi publication Al-Youm, referenced by Algomhor.com, discussions between Al Ahly and Portuguese manager Jose Gomes are in progress.
