Ending weeks of speculation, SuperSport has confirmed the sale of the Betway Premiership club SuperSport United.
The broadcasting giant has announced via a statement that the club known as 'Matsatsantsa' or formally as SuperSport United has been sold to Siwelele FC.
"SuperSport International would like to confirm the sale of its Premier Soccer League (PSL) club, SuperSport United, to Siwelele Football Club (Pty) Ltd. Following a closed bidding process," the statement reads.
KICK OFF broke the story on Thursday morning that the three-time champions had summoned players and staff to a meeting on the same day to reveal the future of the club.

The statement published by SuperSport puts to bed weeks of reports that have linked the Tshwane outfit with a sale in what is believed to be an effort to revive Bloemfontein Celtic, who went defunct after being sold to Shawn Mkhize and would later be known as Royal AM - now dissolved as well.
The finer details around Siwelele FC are yet to be known, such as where the club will be based, as Bloemfontein Celtic were based in the Free State province. What has come to light is that Siwelele will don the similar green and white stripes made famous by Celtic.
Siwelele F.C. chairman Calvin Le John added: "As Siwelele, we are privileged to have been given the responsibility of continuing with a rich winning tradition in the PSL."
