With Stellenbosch top players such as Fawaaz Basadien and Thabo Moloisane linked with moves to big teams, goalkeeper Lee Langeveldt has opened up on the difficulty of keeping their best players.
Just like SuperSport United in the past, Stellies are slowly becoming the conveyor belt for big teams such as Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs to acquire quality players.

In the 2023/24 campaign, The Maroons sold Sibongiseni Mthethwa to Chiefs, who followed the likes of Ashley Du Preez to Amakhosi and Junior Mendieta to The Brazilians in recent seasons.
After another impressive season in the PSL, where Stellies finished third and reached the semi-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup, defenders such as Basadien and Moloisane and attackers Antonio Van Wyk and Devin Titus have already been linked with exits to the glitz and glamour of teams in Gauteng.
After revealing to KickOff.com that Stellenbosch has ambitions to win the league, is there talk within the management to keep their best players?
"I think they (management) always give the option to the player of course at the end of the day. I'm sure they would like to keep their best players but it's up to the player as well," Langeveldt said in a candid interview with this website.

"It's not always just the management. It must come from them (players) as well. But I'm sure all of us want to stay. Whoever plays at Stellenbosch is important. It's never easy to lose players.
"For the past three, four seasons we've sold (players). So I don't see the reason why, if we do lose players, we can't replace with similar quality," the Stellenbosch-bred shot-stopper added.
