SA-Eligible star 'criticised' by Ligue 1 club

Bafana Bafana-eligible star Ayanda Sishuba has reportedly been completely excluded from pre-season training with Stade Rennes, with the club's coaching staff believed to be taking issue with the player's attitude.

Sishuba’s career has been on the decline over the past year, having made just one appearance since the start of the 2023/24 season.

This is despite the fact that he has represented two clubs during this period, in both Italy and France.

While the off-season often offers players a fresh opportunity to regain form, that seemingly isn’t the case for Sishuba.

According to French radio network France Bleu, Sishuba has been frozen out of Rennes' first team, with the coaching staff reportedly displeased with his attitude.

The report claims that Rennes boss Habib Beye and his staff have criticised Sishuba, along with five other players, for a lack of commitment.

Additionally, Sishuba and several teammates are said to be viewed as no longer compatible with the squad, and are therefore free to seek moves elsewhere.

The plan is reportedly for Sishuba—who only joined the club six months ago—to pursue a loan move to a Ligue 2 side in order to get regular game time.

He is currently understood to be training with Rennes' reserve team.
