Mailula 'expected at new club' this week

It is now reported that Cassius Mailula is expected to arrive at his new club in the near future to finalise his latest transfer.

Mailula’s immediate future does not appear to be at his parent club, Toronto FC, in Canada.

During the 2024/25 campaign, the South African striker was loaned out to Wydad Athletic Club in Morocco.

At the time, it was reported that then-Wydad boss Rulani Mokwena had endorsed Mailula’s signing, having previously worked with the striker at Mamelodi Sundowns.

A similar situation is now unfolding, with Mokwena expected to reunite with Mailula once again—this time at MC Alger.

According to Algerian football news outlet Footalgeriedz.com, MC Alger’s management are in advanced talks with Mailula’s camp.

It is said that negotiations are being led by MC Alger president Hakim Hadj Redjem, following the recommendation of new head coach Mokwena.

The report also states that Mailula is expected to arrive in Algeria by this week to finalise the move.

MC Alger have already flown out to Tunisia to begin their pre-season preparations. If the deal is concluded in time, Mailula will be expected to link up with his new teammates in Tunisia.
