Foster is among several players to receive new numbers, including Burnley’s high-profile signing from Manchester City, Kyle Walker.
A statement on the club’s official website read: “Burnley Football Club can now confirm the official 2025/26 squad numbers for the upcoming Premier League season.
“Marcus Edwards will switch from 22, which will now be worn by Oliver Sonne, to take the number 10 shirt.
“Meanwhile, striker Lyle Foster will now wear 9, with summer signing Loum Tchaouna taking Foster’s former number 17.
“Fellow new arrival Kyle Walker will have the 2 shirt, with Axel Tuanzebe and Quilindschy Hartman wearing 6 and 3 respectively.”
Foster initially wore the number 12 shirt during his first season at Burnley in 2022/23, before switching to 17 for the following two campaigns.
This won’t be the first time he wears the number 9 at club level, having previously done so during his spells at KVC Westerlo in Belgium and Monaco B in France.
Burnley have also unveiled their new Castore away kit for the coming season.
