Hunt turns to ex-SuperSport captain

A newly promoted PSL outfit have turned to Kaitano Tembo as assistant coach after failing to secure the services of a tactician who recently became a free agent.

Durban City are expected to unveil Gavin Hunt as their new head coach after parting ways with Simo Dladla last week.

The KwaZulu-Natal-based club is currently searching for a new assistant after Thabo September turned down an offer to join them.

The former SuperSport United captain is also without a team after coming to an agreement to part ways with Chippa United at the end of last season.

He has since been replaced by Sinethemba Badela at the Gqeberha-based side.

September has confirmed the offer from Durban City and why he turned it down.

“I had already committed to another project in the Eastern Cape when they contacted me. I am still committed to football but in another level that involves youth development,” September tells KickOff.com.

Hunt and Tembo have previously spent a number of years at SuperSport, with the latter also having turned out for the team during his playing days, where at one stage he was captain.
