Back home in Luanda, Gilberto has played more minutes on his way to his latest league title.
The reward for his efforts has come with selection into the Angolan squad to play at the 2025 COSAFA Cup.
Angola will be in Group B of this year’s tournament to be played from June 4-15 in Mangaung and will have Namibia, Malawi, and Lesotho as opponents.
Palancas Negras coach Pedro Goncalves has included Gilberto in the squad he named on Wednesday but ignored Inacio Miguel of Kaizer Chiefs.
Gilberto has been regularly called up, while Miguel was last called up in November 2023.
