Pirates handed advice on acquisition from Baroka

Orlando Pirates have been handed vital advice on how to get the best out of Tshepo Mashiloane, who has been roped in from Motsepe Foundation Championship side Baroka FC ahead of next season.

Mashiloane has penned a reported five-year contract with Bucs.

He has been playing under the guidance of Dan Malesela at Baroka, and the former Pirates defender has warned the Soweto giants not to make the same mistake as Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo.

“Mashiloane is extraordinary. He is a very special and talented right-back,” boasts Malesela, speaking to KickOff.com.

“While he is not yet a complete player - there are a few aspects he needs to work on - he is solid in defence and outstanding going forward.

“He scored goals for us and created numerous chances. However, it's essential to remember that no player enters the PSL as a complete package, especially those coming from lower leagues.

“There are specific things that Mashiloane can learn from the experienced players at Pirates. Although he is strong, gifted, and technically skilled, he still has room to grow.

“As a coach, I encourage people to ask me about the players I have coached. Sometimes, fans and teams fail to understand these players, which can lead to misconceptions about their abilities," he continues.

Malesela believes Ndlondlo is being played in the wrong position at Pirates.

"He should not be playing as an eight or six, he needs to be utilised as a 10. In that number 10 role, he is significantly better and more effective at creating and scoring goals.

“That’s where Ndlondlo thrived when he started at Pirates, so it’s puzzling why they moved him. It saddens me when I see a player I’ve coached fall off the radar, and I hope Tshepo does not have to experience the same fate.

“Yes, Tshepo can play as a centre-back, but his natural position is right-back. Given his youth, I believe he has the potential to graduate to the centre-back position in future.”
