Cape Town City chairman John Comitis has responded to the verdict issued by the Premier Soccer League Disciplinary Committee earlier this week concerning the abandoned Betway Premiership match between SuperSport United and Lamontville Golden Arrows.
The match was abandoned after SuperSport United, the home team, failed to provide a backup generator following a power failure.
The PSL has ruled that the match will resume from the second half next week.
City, Arrows, and SSU all face the possibility of being involved in the promotional/relegation play-offs.
"The verdict is a verdict; I'm not here to challenge the outcome of the hearing, but I want to say that fair play is not being observed," Comitis tells KickOff.
"It's the last game of the season, and everyone should be playing, but there are two games left after the end of this week, both of which are significant in the play-off situation.
"I know this is not an easy or comfortable decision, but those two games should have been played today. All league games should be completed by Saturday
"Then nobody can complain about anything. This will restore credibility to the outcome of the season," the chairman added.
"This weekend we are all playing, and there are two games left. Magesi has one that is significant for the play-offs; they could lose 3-0, and we might win 2-0, which could send them into the play-offs.
"SuperSport and Golden Arrows are tied at 1-1, and they must play the second half. If things work out in a certain way this weekend, if we lose our game, we are out.
"But as for the verdict, we accept it. I have my own interpretation of the rules, but if the affected clubs do not want to challenge it, that's up to them.
"At the end of the day, it is what it is. We should be going into the last game knowing exactly where we stand, but we don’t. We are depending on a lot of permutations, and that is not right."
