Ex-Maritzburg coach reveals Kadodia brothers' secret

Former Maritzburg United head coach Vladislav Heric has explained the reasons behind the management success of the Kadodia family in South African football.

The Kadodias have once again made their mark by successfully bringing Durban City FC back to the Premier Soccer League (PSL) after convincingly winning the 2024/25 Motsepe Foundation Championship title.

Heric, who previously coached Maritzburg United before their rebranding to Durban City FC, expects the KwaZulu-Natal-based club to compete in the Betway Premiership next season, despite the controversies surrounding their celebrations.

The club is facing allegations regarding the improper registration of their influential player, Saziso Magawana.

"Durban City’s owners likely invest in football more than any other clubs I know. They are well-organized and, most importantly, know how to protect the team," Heric tells KickOff.

"It’s these qualities that make them successful on the field. Congratulations to the Kadodias, all the Durban City supporters, the technical team, the players, and the management. They have demonstrated that they know how to win both on and off the field, which is where many clubs struggle.

"I'm not concerned about the Magawana issue. I don't believe they would make such a significant mistake. I trust they can defend their decision. They wouldn't be foolish enough to make silly errors.

"They allowed the player to play again yesterday because they are confident they didn't make a mistake.

"There are clubs that sell their teams after relegation, while others drop from the PSL to the NFD, and then from the NFD to the ABC Motsepe League. The PSL needs people like the Kadodia brothers.

"You never hear about the Kadodia brothers, Imraan and Farook, mistreating players. They are very professional. I have known them since 2008, and I worked with them during that time."
