Durban City chairman makes fresh PSL accusations

Amidst the protests against Durban City being crowned champions, club chairman Farouk Kadodia has made fresh accusations for the Premier Soccer League to deliberate over.

JDR Stars had a protest against City, which has delayed their coronation as champions of the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

In their protest, the Tshwane-based side alleged that The Team of Choice had improperly registered Saziso Magawana, after signing him at the beginning of the season from Leruma United, who had just bought the status of Marumo Gallants.

The PSL Disciplinary Committee (DC) heard the matter on Tuesday and it was dismissed with costs.

However, Cape Town Spurs, who were relegated after a defeat on the final matchday against the City, have made a similar protest against the same player's eligibility, which the DC will ventilate on Wednesday.

Speaking to KickOff.com, amidst all the legal drama, which has become commonplace at this time of season in the PSL, Kadodia has accused all the parties involved, except Spurs, of conflict of interest and questioned how the League can allow such representation in their courts.

"The owner of Leruma is a legal representative of JDR. He was also the legal representative of Gallants," Kadodia told this publication.

"How ethical are we running our football? These kind of situations are a conflict of interest, you know."

Leruma Thobejane was the lawyer of Moroka Swallows, whose status was bought by Gallants.

Leruma United, owned by Thobejane, went on to buy the National First Division franchise of Gallants.

JDR, represented by Thobejane, as per Kadodia, alleged that Magawana was not supposed to get his clearance from Gallants but from Leruma.

As the PSL DC ruled with regards to JDR's protest, Magawana was not in the wrong in obtaining his clearance from the defunct Gallants.

It's unclear if the Urban Warriors are bringing a different legal argument.
