Thembinkosi Lorch is said to be on the verge of joining Wydad Athletic Club, but the reason behind the delay in his official announcement has now reportedly been revealed.
Lorch recently parted ways with Mamelodi Sundowns, having joined the club in January 2024. However, he spent the second half of last season on loan at Wydad, where he made a strong impression.

A return to the Botola Pro League outfit now appears imminent, with reports indicating that he will rejoin the Moroccan side ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
Speculation around the 32-year-old's return to the Botola Pro League side intensified following his standout performances for Wydad during the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup in the United States.
Now, it is understood that Wydad and the Brazilians have reached an agreement for Lorch to return to the three-time CAF Champions League winners.
However, while his official unveiling has not yet taken place, reports from North Africa have suggested that the Red Castle are still in the process of releasing some foreign players to make room for Lorch in their squad.
According to Sport7, the Casablanca-based giants are looking to either sell or loan out Ghanaian striker Samuel Obeng and are also considering offers to loan Brazilian midfielder Pedrinho, amongst other players.

The report has highlighted that Wydad currently have nine foreign players on their books, while league regulations allow a maximum of five to be registered.
Wydad is expected to resolve the issue swiftly in order to register the fan-favourite Lorch, with his official announcement anticipated soon.
