Masilela: Jali should join one of the big teams

Mamelodi Sundowns legend Joel 'Fire' Masilela says it has become obvious that Andile Jali will not be with the club next season and advised the midfielder to join a title rival.

The player is currently not training with the league champions and eyebrows were raised on Monday when the club did not wish him a happy 33rd Birthday on their social media platforms as they usually do with all their players.

Jali is currently free to sign a pre-contract with a team of his choice as he is currently in the last six months of his contract.

"I think it depends on the technical staff if they still have a plan for him for the last remaining matches," Masilela tells KickOff.

"It also depends on him if he still wants to play for the club or he wants to pursue a career somewhere.

"I know it's a very difficult situation. I was once a player so I can relate to everything that is going on.

"If he still wants to play for Sundowns he could have raised his hand.

"Jali still has the legs and the experience and the ability, so for me, he is still a very, very good player.

"The way I see it he will be let go; it's going to be difficult for him to get a place at Sundowns now.

"There is a lot of competition for places and those that are playing ahead of him are currently doing their job very well, and the coach is happy with them.

"At the moment I don't see him being part of the team. Rhulani Mokwena is introducing these new players, fresh legs, fresh blood.

"In my opinion, Jali should go and play for one of the bigger teams, he shouldn't go to these middle-aged teams. It will be difficult for him to adapt there. They will rely too much on him.

"It's better he joins SuperSport United, Kaizer Chiefs, and Orlando Pirates because there he will have experienced players around him.

"He can still play for another year or two Jali, as long as he looks after himself."
