There have been further details emerging about Argentine defender Lucas Suarez’s forthcoming departure at Mamelodi Sundowns.
Suarez joined Sundowns on loan from his homeland club CA Talleres in an arrangement that was meant to keep him at Chloorkop until the end of the year.
What was initially thought to be a perfect signing soon appeared otherwise with the left-footed central defender exposed, his minutes dropping in April and May.

He has since not even been registered in Sundowns’ 35-man squad for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, making him ineligible for the tournament.
The PSL champions have 35 players available for the competition in USA but travelled with 27 players when they left on Sunday.
Interesting information has now emerged from Argentina about Suarez’s situation at the Tshwane giants.
It is said his contract had a clause stipulating that if he played 15 games for The Brazilians, then the option to buy him would be triggered.
Suarez played 14 matches but only featured once in the last 10 games played by the club.
It appears Sundowns have chosen not to commit into turning the loan into a permanent transfer, thus their decision not to register him after having cut his appearances towards the end of the season.
The Chloorkop club have not had the desired returns with another Argentine Matias Esquivel, for whom big money was spent in completing his transfer.
There are suggestions Suarez had adjusting issues in South Africa and prefers returning home.
At Talleres, there will be decisions made about whether there will be room for him in new coach Diego Cocca’s squad or he will get another loan.

His contract is still running until end of next year.
Suarez’s departure will open a foreign space.
His parent club Talleres is back at training preparing for the Torneo Clausura, which is due to run from July 17 until December 14.
