A bold prediction has been made about next season's potential league champions, with the suggestion that the dominance that sees Mamelodi Sundowns within a whisker of an eighth consecutive league title could end.
Sundowns extended their lead at the top of the standings to 12 points over second-placed Orlando Pirates after defeating Richards Bay FC 3-0 on Tuesday, though the Soweto giants have two games in hand.
"Imagine a club winning their eighth league title in a row. In my opinion, that’s exactly what Sundowns have done. There’s currently a nine-point difference. But that won’t last forever,” warns Mokete Tsotetsi, formerly with Kaizer Chiefs.

"Sundowns are still benefiting from the foundation built by their former coach, Pitso Mosimane. The new coach, Miguel Cardoso, is taking advantage of the work done by his predecessors. However, as he gradually tries to implement his own style, changes are inevitable.
"It’s these changes that will give both Chiefs and Pirates a chance to dethrone Sundowns as league champions.
"I believe both Chiefs and Pirates will surprise us. Coach Nasreddine Nabi has learned valuable lessons about South African football. The fact that Chiefs are already in a cup final in Nabi's first season speaks volumes about his abilities.

"Sundowns won’t rule forever," he continues.
The ex-defender believes the fact Nabi now understand how things are done in the PSL, including where to find players in the next transfer market, will play a key role in 2025/26.
"As long as Chiefs and Pirates don’t rebuild their teams from scratch, I believe we will see different PSL champions as soon as next season."
