Sekhukhune to beat Pirates to CL spot?

Sekhukhune United coach Eric Tinkler has commented on his side potentially fighting for a CAF Champions League spot after defeating Orlando Pirates on Wednesday.

Babina Noko defeated the Buccaneers 1-0 at Orlando Stadium, with Tresor Yamba getting the winner in the second half to help Tinkler get one over his former team.

With the win, Babina Noko not only cemented third-place on the table but moved within two points off the second-place Sea Robbers, who have played four games less.

“I think for us, it’s just worrying about ourselves right now. Yes, they got a lot of games in hand, they going to have a very heavy schedule from now until the end of the season," Tinkler told SuperSport TV.

“But again, it’s the same with Stellenbosch we got to worry about ourselves and make sure we collect maximum points and what happens around us happens and if we manage to catch them we catch them. So, I don’t want to put too much focus to that."

Tinkler was also happy with how his side responded in the second half against the Buccaneers.

“I think to be brutally honest our first half performance wasn’t great on the ball we weren’t great; we were panicking, we give it to them very cheaply and we struggled in terms of our organisation tracking runners and they rotations and they were hurting us you know,” Tinkler told SuperSport TV.

“Yes, they didn’t really create an out-and-out chance but we had to suffer in the first half, we went with a 4-42 formation and didn’t really succeed much with that in the first half.

“So, I think the changes that I made in the second half really spurned the game on its head and I thought we were much, much better in the second half,” he added.
